hi all, i use MEP2011 but i have used architectural a bit. here is a rendering that i did. my problem is with the boxwood shrubs. as you can see i had to place alot of them in a row to try to have it look as though it was one long bush. can the plantings be modified or created to be, say 2fl. wide x 3fl tall x 8ft long, for example. if i try to open the family editor all i can do is change the height. and that simply scales the whole bush. on the ground level it was suppose to be just 7 bushes. but i had to place more like 65 instances.

Create that in project with a Solid extrusion ("In-place" ) with that dimension and apply a texture to the leaves.

so are you saying that it's not possible to create more planting families to be used over and over. i have to create a mass in place every time i need it.

Plants are not like building components so the normal Revit tools do not work. You can buy different and more elaborate 3D plant families from on-line scorces or you could create them in other programs. Otherwise, Typhoon has given you an excellant suggestion but don't use a mass. Use an in-place family or create a parametric family.

since i have the plantings, if i go to create a new family, in the templetes i have access to the planting.rft templete. i juct can't find any information on creating plantings, so i will be an explorer this weekend. if that won't work, mayby i could start with generic, and assign it to the planting family category. and assign the same image for the rendering as the boxwood has.

vinny, I've made a dozen or so plants they really are not that hard. Just go into the family and look at how it is made. there just extrusions on differing planes for the most part. You can create several work planes and then rotate the objects and you will get more or less the look you are after.

another thing, your garden is a little too organized. If you like a formal garden that is fine but you have enough plants there if reorganized like an english garden might have a little better feeling.
