I have part of a wall where the cladding is to be removed. I wish to show the surface pattern as dashed on this wall, and created a dashed horizontal line pattern, to match the pattern used on the surface of the walls where the cladding is retained.

I was using model patterns, but cannot seem to use these as an "overide in view" pattern.

As a work-around I used a drafting pattern, but I cannot align this to the model pattern on the adjacent wall.

Where have I gone wrong?

Use the "Align" tool for that BUT you must use "MODEL" patterns NOT "drafting".

I am sorry if I was not clear. I intended to use model patterns, and understand that I can align these but cannot align drafting patterns, but when I go to the the Override graphics in view/By element/Surface Patterns/Pattern drop down, there are only drafting patterns on the list. Can you tell me why and how to change this?

Thanks.

spacey,

You would be better off using the tools Revit gives you.  If you have a thin wall the thickness of your siding placed against your structural wall and joined to it, it will look like one wall in plan.  Use your demo tool to demolish this thin wall.   We like to set demo'd items surface patterns to be half-tone and no need to show the pattern dashed.

Hi WWHub,

Yes I already had it set up as a thin wall with demo setting. I just find the half tone is an issue sometimes when the building contractor photocopies things several times and things disappear off drawings or the difference between halftone and black becomes lost.
