I really enjoy the easiness of making a building in revit, but when it comes to angled planes and such I have problems.  The first image attachment is Revit model rendered.  I am trying to get the chamfered edges as shown in the sketchup model images of the same building.  Any suggestions?

Create those wall a little bit longer, then, in Home > Component > Model In-Place choose the "Wall" category, go to a Plan/elevation/ or section view and create a "VOID" extrusion with the right shape, then use the "Cut Geometry" tool, select the void then select the wall.

Thanks for the info.  I did a roof sweep, a floor sweep, and a wall extrusion.  Now, the problem is how do I join up all these?  Please see attached close-up image.  I want those sweeps and voids to clean up nicely.  Also, how can I apply a material to the faces of these In-Place models(sweeps & extrusions)?

I don't know EXACTLY how your model is but look my first image, it's something like that? well, i just create a normal floor, roof by footprint and a wall, then i use the void in "in-Place" family" to cut that wall, now, in the roof (where you have that angle) i jut create a sweep a little beyond the limits then a void to make a "clear" cut" like you want, after this use the "Join geometry" tool between the walls/floor/roof and sweep/extrusion and its done.

About the "Material", when you are creting the sweeps/extrusions (look my second image) in properties you will see a little button where you can add a material parameter, that's the best option because the other way (third image) is using the "Paint" tool where you choose the mat. you want and then just select the face to paint.

So, I was able to join the floor and wall after creating voids and use the join tool.  But, I haven't been able to cut the sweep at the rooof.  how do you do it?  I tried cut geometry, but something is not working.  see attached.

I redid the sweep and then created a void while in the In-Place model command and it worked.  However, I'm not able to join it to the roof.

I had problems assigning material to my previous sweep, but I will try it with my new sweep and see if it works.  Thanks!

"But, I haven't been able to cut the sweep at the rooof." - you are doing something wrong, create the sweep like i told you before, then create the "void", use the "Cut geometry" tool and select the sweep and the Void (remember, the void should involve every part you want to cut), now you have a "Clear Cut", then, you can use the "join geometry" tool.

About the "Materials", I don't know where is the problem, just do what I told you, watch the images attached in my last post.

So, I got the void extrusion to cut off the sweep, but I did not understand the add parameter stuff for the roof sweep.  As you can see in the attached rendering, I did apply a concrete material to the roof sweep, but I tried adding a parameter ot the sweep and the options didn't look exactly like yours.  I'm using 2010 though.  Are you using 2011.  Yours said Extrusion Properties, but I'm trying to add material properties to a sweep.  Anyway, I am just trying to apply material to the faces.  I want the slanted part of the sweep to have that redish paint look, and the fascia to be concrete and the top of the sweep just to be white.  I tried painting the faces(that's how I painted the slanted wall and floor portion shown in red).  But, it didn't work.

Also, how do i get the wall and roof sweep geometry to clean up nicely?  They look clean in the rendering, but all choppy in the model.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, i'm using the 2011 BUT in 2010 is the same.

"Anyway, I am just trying to apply material to the faces.  I want the slanted part of the sweep to have that redish paint look, and the fascia to be concrete and the top of the sweep just to be white.  I tried painting the faces(that's how I painted the slanted wall and floor portion shown in red).  But, it didn't work. " - just EDIT the sweep, now use the "Paint" tool with the materials you want and apply to the faces.

"Also, how do i get the wall and roof sweep geometry to clean up nicely?  They look clean in the rendering, but all choppy in the model." - Use the "Join Geometry" tool AND use the "Linework" tool with "Invisible lines" to clean up what you want.

If you have doubts about how this tools work just press F1 and search for "Linework"...
