This would be a great Sticky: History: I have a 15yr. Architectural drafting/Design background and currently working for a Structural firm and have taken beginner and Intermediate classes at my local CC. Although I have completed the course and understand Revit now I still don’t understand how to make my AutoCAD Template into a Revit template. Currently using 2011 Revit Arch.Q 1: I have my boarder and title sheet, but when I got to my general notes I got a bit lost. I want them in my template but not on my general note sheets yet. I want to be able to pick and choose. Q 2: In autocad I have my keynots, notes, and sheet title for floor, roof etc. I understand title comes with the view I place onto the sheet. Key notes get pulled in from my model so all I have to do is add the legend that’s generated. But what about the notes, I also want to have these to be placed into the sheet like a block I can edit depending on the project. Q3: is it good idea to have all my details, general notes in my template ready to use or have them stored and pull them in as needed? I understand that my template my get huge.

Answers: - Set up some drafting views to place the general notes in. Either one as a place holder for all the notes (you would copy paste the notes to the view or sheet you need them on) or individual ones for each set of note, then you can drag the drafting view onto the sheet with the notes.
- Maybe I'm not understanding the question, but it sounds similar to the first question...? Are these the same notes or different notes?
- We have "Standard" details in the template with a "library" project that we can pull other often used details in from.
Hope this helps, let us know.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! |

Thank you that was a huge help. I knew there was a way but had no idea that I could use Drafting Views like that. It sounds like I should setup a standard template and one loaded with stuff I can pull from, am I right? Also how do i figure out pen weights. I use standard autocad colors from 1-6. I printed them out to scale and trying to find the thickness in Revit. Its taking for ever. Is there a chart or something that can help me out. doesn't need to be exact but I do want to get close to what im accustom to seeing.
