Hello all; I am trying to draw a multilevel parking structure for a class project in Revit Architecture 2010. I have the floors done with the ramps utilizing the modify sub elements tool with no problem. I need to draw a barrier around the edges of the floor including the sloped ramp. I think I need to create a family but I have little experience with that and my instructor ?? is clueless. Could someone recommend a tutorial on the subject or point me in the right direction. I want to learn but not getting much help in class. Any guidence will be most appreciated Pete Houston TX

hey pete- there are several ways to do this. a few (but not limited to) include walls- can simply draw a wall and edit each one to look the way you want railings- very cool for a cable barrier or such hosted family- will be able to slope with the slopes generic family- maybe something totally wild or very basic

A wall would be perfect, but how do you slope a wall for the ramp? I only want the barrier to be 2 1/2 to 3 foot tall. Thanks much for your reply Pete

A simple way is: use a couple of "Ref. planes" and attach your walls (Top/Base) to those ref. planes

Would a slab edge edited to go up instead of down work? That way is stays connected to the floors even if they get moved.

if you are going to use a slab edge you have to apply it prior to sloping the floor

Hello Again I've pretty much solved my problem by modeling in place, solid, sweep as seen in the enclosed project. Just one thing is wrong. The sweep work perfectly except for the left side of the ramp (note: this is just rough example of what I'm trying to do). For the life of me I can't get that section to line up with the rest of the barriers orientation. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated Pete Houston

Why do you create that with a Solid Sweep when you can create that with only walls? For those "Sloped" walls, in a Elevation/section view you can edit those walls and draw the shape of that like you want.

" Why do you create that with a Solid Sweep when you can create that with only walls? I see what you are saying but I'm not sure how to do it. I'm brand new to Revit and learning mostly on my own. If you could give me some detail I sure I can learn to do it and learn more at the same time. Your replies are greatly appreciated. Pete in Houston
