The project is a 55 storey tower, with so-called "typical office floors" but they really are different on every level due to the asymmetrical elevations of the tower that isn't straightforward in geometry. I can't delete anymore sheets, nor can I delete any more views. The building has a podium as well, and we've started construction documents on the same central file, so there really is a lot of information for one file. Still, 420mb? Some computers are crashing around our office and my task is to fix the file size. After purging and deleting unnecessary elements, minimizing the number of detail groups and in-place families, I've run out of options. Any ideas? I'm also open to suggestions about splitting the file or reorganizing it in any way possible that doesn't hinder the workflow that our guys are used to (working from one single local file). We have 4 people on the project including myself. Thank you very much for any helpful comments, and good luck guys.

The only suggestion I have is to try splitting up areas into worksets. It won't reduce the filesize, but when you open a file you can choose which worksets to open, and keeping the ones you don't need to see closed will improve performance.

TKennedy is right, Reduced worksets may get you around the problem. It will be complicated when you print but it should help. If you are just starting CD's, it sounds like you have some procedure problems. Model elements themselves should not be a problem unless you have multiple instances of in-place models. Are you linking in CAD or REVIT files? If so, put those on seperate worksets that are not open in every view by default. If you have imported CAD files, that is a real problem.

probably a bit late, but the only other way is to split the model down, ie podium is one central then a certain number of floors is another etc, this can all be linked in to creat one site model for renders presentations etc, then any furniture could be in a seperate model... these are all broken down by worksets as well...
