Hello everbody, i am trying to design a `glass box`. I have several questions, but first one is i do not know how to make opening in curtain wall (not an empty one) like an operable window. I attached a partial image to illustrate. I am trying to make 2' opening on the top of the right side . And i need also some operable curtain walls on side walls and roof. If anyone give me a suggestion, i will be grateful. Thanks Alper

As you've found curtain walls work a little different to normally walls in how they host doors, windows and openings. You need families loaded into your project created from the Curtain Wall templates for doors, windows and panels. Then tab select the panel and from the type selector swap the panel out of the one you require. Alternatively you can tab select the panel and swap it out for a basic wall type. Then you can host normal windows and doors in those basic walls. HTH.

Hi Mr Spot, thanks for your answer. As i understood if i can create a family for operable curtain panel such as rotatable glass panel,so i can load to use specific locations that i selected with tab from my whole curtain wall. Now I have to figure out how to make rotatable glass panel to use for this purpose !... If you may help me, thanks a lot. Secondly, i do not know how to swap a curtain panel to basic wall. If i select one of the curtain pane with tab, then there are just panel families and glazed or solid as types in type properties menu.? P.S. My Revit version is 2011 Alper

Scroll up, there should be choices for all wall types in the drop down. If you are in the "Edit Type" Type Properties menu at the top simply change the Family to "System Panel: Basic Wall". For the rotating glass panel, draw a sketch of what you require and upload it as it won't be the easiest thing to tackle. For me, I wouldn't actually show the rotation in 3D, I'd only show as a symbolic reference in plan and elevation... In the latter case its much easier. In the former you'd need to use reporting parameters and possibly reference lines etc... HTH.

Hi, thanks for your help. I solved such a primitive way i used saved as glass pamel family file and modifed according to my desire (angle and dimension). Then i uploaded to my project and used where they are required.Ok, It is not parametric and requires some wierd adjustments, but it seems good in 3d and side views.
