In our office, we recently noticed that moving an elevation tag causes the elevation to shift in its view. The problem is that while the building elevation shifts in the view, any placed detail components remain in their original location. Has anyone noticed anything similar and/or know how to fix this? We're using Revit 2011.

Thanks. Julie.

You are correct - 2D element except for dimensions and tags will not move.  The fix is

  1. Don't shift the view after adding detailing.  or
  2. Open the view and window all detail elements - move to the correct location.

So, there's no way to prevent an elevation from moving, if a tag needs to be shifted?

If your cut is horizontal and you move it vertically (only), there is no problem.  Same obviously with a vertical section moving horizontally.  Remember, the heads and tails of sections can be moved (along the cut line) independently of the actual cut.

If your moving a section to another wall, try cutting a new section and copy  - pasting from one section to the other, then delting the original.
