I would like to change the orientation of the headers in a wall-schedule, so that the headers are on the y-axis instead of on the x-axis. I've tried to change the heading orientation from horizontal to vertical in the schedule properties / formatting, but this has no effect what so ever. What am I doing wrong? PS: I found this old thread concerning the same issue, but this just doesn't sovle the problem. http://www.revitcity.com/forums.php?action=viewthread&thread_id=11448

The rotated header will not show up in the working schedule view - it shows up when you place the schedule on a sheet.

Thanks for replying! I see the change, although it doesn't solve my problem. I will try to explain. Instead of having the headers and data like this: (Headers is 1 2 3 4, data is a b c d) 1 2 3 4 a b c d I would like it to appear like this: 1 a 2 b 3 c 4 d Is this possible? If I try to rotate the schedule (which I can't) the headers would be at the right side, so that doesn't solve the problem either. I really hope there is a solution for this.

At this time, Revit schedules can only be in columns of data per item, not rows of data.

Too bad. Is there any other way that I can make a list of data that I have entered in the type properties of an object, so that parameter and value is listed the way I described in previous post? Or maybe instead some other way to connect information to an object type?

Export to excel, re-format in excel, create an image in excel and import image into Revit. Seems like a lot of work for a "standard" that maybe should change instead.

Exporting just to make the appearence change and then importing again is exactly what I'm trying to avoid. But I figure there must be some way around this, I'll just have to find it... I'm writing an assignment where I have to make this work some way or another, but I'm not so sure that it's possible. I'm thinking that maybe creating tags, with labels for all the information I want to add to the element type, could be a way around it, but again, I'm not sure that's the way. (I have about 16 different pieces of information that I would like to be able to link to each object, and then export to a text document). Am I just wasting my time?

Revit doesn't allow that at this point. It does allow you to rotate the schedule on the sheet. In 2011, select the schedule and below your ribbon on the modify toolbar you will see the option to rotate the schedule. This may be what you are looking for exactly, but it may look close enough. It may be a weird way of thinking, but it is always best to slightly modify ones expectations to what revit wants. Exporting, Importing, making too many modifications just adds time and destroys the budget. Cheers, Craig Hanus Revit Cafe www.revitcafe.com

There are add-ons for bringing in excel information into Revit. I have never used it - but I know there is at least one out there. You should be able to do a search for it...

Is there some way to have headers on the x axis and y axis? Not sure how to do this, but some kind of nested parameters maybe...
This is for a schedule of a single door type. The headers on the X axis can include typical things like Lock, Closer, Frame Type, Fire Rating, etc. This is for a sheet to describe a single type of door (the sheet has elevations too) so there is only one row of data.
But, For each category (lock, closer, etc.) I not only want to list the parameter value (e.g. lock A), but also have some other parameters related to the first parameter (ie. lock). These would list who is responsible for the work relating to that category - Procuring, Installing, Painting, Inspecting. etc.
So, the schedule would show the type of lock, closer, etc. and also who installs, inspects, etc. the item.
