I am trying to save a file, Started as a template (.rte) & want to save it as a normal file, a (.prj) I guess, but when I go to save as, the first two options are greyed out, why is this happening why will it not let me do this????

any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

If you opened an RTE file and started working in it, that is all you can save it as.

See this thread.

Thx I am working with the Paul Aubin book & have got a reply from him also. He said this.

"Hello Dermot:

Thank you for your email. It sounds to me like you opened the template file instead of creating a new project based on the template file. Do not use the Open command. Use the New > Project command. When you do, you can select a template to use. This will create a new project based on the template. You can then save it as.

Hope that helps.

thx Brett

Looks like i opened a template instead of a project file & my old AutoCAD habits thought I could then save it as whatever when I wanted
