Hi

I have been putting my house in order and putting all my components in my own folders. All nice and neat. Now when I try and place a component within the drawings I get an error stating ' Cannot load family files. Some or all the family files you sellected cannot be loaded. You must chose family files of the category ........'. This does not happen all the time, but most. Even when I copy and paste from older drawings.

Have I tried to hard in getting my house in order?

Cheers

Mark

Im kinda confused, you cant load components into the project? or once you load them you cant place them in the project?

It will not let me load them. I have gone back into my 2010 and 2009 library folders but the same thing happens.

This error usualy is associated with trying to load a family using the wrong tool in Revit. For example if you go to the door tool you can only load doors. If you try to load a casework family it will give you this message. Also it may be a version thing. What version are you trying to load the families into?

The 'component' tool actually used to let you load families on any 'category'. No longer.

In 2011, on the Insert Tab of the ribbon click 'Load Family' to load any family category and all it does it load it. It does not prompt you to place the family and you will not get the 'wrong category' error.

Yes sure enough it works.  Bit puzzling though why it will not work via the home and Component tab. Still it works via the Insert tab. Now lets get back to work and catch up on lost time.

Thank you

Mark
