Is there any way to cheat with the Revision Cloud line style without actually being classified as a revision in the Sheet Border Revision list? I want to use the line pattern only to indicate tree protection zones on a site plan, but I cannot get rid of the Revision 1 text in the sheet.

The revision cloud is probably not a line style but a family. You can probably create the same kind of thing as a line based family. Search the forums using "line based" and you may find some pointers on what you can do.

I discovered you can turn off the Revisions in the sheet border by doing the following: Manage/Additional Settings/Sheet Issues & Revisions Place all settings too none or blank except for the cloud
