I've created an integral floor cove wall sweep as part of a wall type and it looks great in 3d. How do I make the profile lines turn off in plan. I've tried to make the lines in the profile family <invisible> to no avail. I've also deselected the visibility of "wall sweeps - cornice" under visibility/graphic overrides. Over than using the linework tool to hide the lines... I'm stumped. Can anyone shed some light on profiles? Thanks!

I beleive it's showing because the top of the primary view range has captured it. Either lower the primary view range 'top' or create a 'plan region' and manipulate the view range in that specific area. You can also just click on the sweep in the view you want it gone and then right click > hide in view > element.

i think my problem is that the sweep is part of the wall type (which i really would like to have). I already have all of my walls modeled and do not want to manually draw in all of the sweeps. by adding the sweep to the wall type all i have to do is just go back and make sure the walls are joined correctly and mitered to be correct in 3d.

You can not turn off intregal wall sweeps in plan. I don't typically use them because of that issue and the fact that you end up having to break interior walls at different rooms and chases.

Good point. So use the sweep tool on it's own rather than embed the sweep in the wall type. It will mitre the corners using this method as well. Maybe just keep the embedded sweeps for crowns and parapets etc.

Greetings.
So I've followed this thread and have been adding my vinyl base manually as a wall sweep, but they are still visible in plan. The only way I've found to hide them is to go to each plan view and select all these sweeps and hide them.
This seems like an inefficient approach.
What is the purpose of the family-based visibility graphics that appear to offer Detail Level visibility? Seems to me that selecting FINE only would ensure that the elements in the family would only appear in FINE detail level.
Will someone out there correct me if I'm wrong ...
Ian

I do all the cove formers, skirtings etc as a rail as I find wall sweeps too dificult to control on a room basis. I can then use 'select all - hide in view' to remove them from my drawings, also you can override them to get a sense of depth using halftone.

I appreciate your thoughts, but I believe that this is more complicated than applying sweeps to each wall, manually. And I can use visibility graphics to control these. But then I've had no issues with applying sweeps manually.
Autodesk informed me:
"When a sweep is defined as part of the wall it takes on visibility characteristics of the wall. So unfortunately any visibility settings you define as part of the profile are not respected once it is part of the wall. When you manually attach a sweep to a wall then you can have control over the visibility of it through the “wall Sweeps” subcategory of Walls. "
sure hope that they will improve on how integral sweeps (and reveals) are addressed. perhaps in 2013 ??

Hello everyone , first timer here and I have a little problem, hopefully i could get some help
I have created a wall sweep profile to show my bottom and double top plate .
First i used the FAMILY - PROFILES _ FRAMING - WOOD_ DIMENSION LUMBER _ and then inserted a DETAIL ITEM to show the cross section lumber 2x6 in section which works perfectly there .... BUT the problem is that if the wall its not being cut I still have this top and bottom rectangles showing in all my views that im trying to get rid off ..
So far I tried to modify the PROFILE FAMILY turning all perimeter lines invisible and then unchecking the visibility box in the properties dialog and nothing. Also I chevk the object styles to see if i could override it but there was no option for this specific wall sweep ...
Does anyone know how to get around this or what am i missing? Im attaching a picture to make thing more clear
LEFT WALL not being cut showing the rectangles for the sweep profile... grrrrrr
RiGHT WALL looks good in all my sections. Please help !

I personally don't like embedded details because they have always been problematic. I would rather just add them to my details.
Turning off detail category in VG might remove this if it is that embedded detail.
Turning off sweeps under the wall category might do the trick if this is the sweep.
