I'm running Revit Structure 2011. Has a lot of great features. One thing I like is the ease in which I can (or used to be able to) edit my keyboard shortcuts. Anymore, when I type the shortcut to open the Keyboard Shortcuts window, or just try to open it through the ribbon, the program won't display the actual editing window. It seems to act as though the window is open (I can't perform any other commands unless I escape out of the "invisible keyboard shortcuts" window) but the window itself, as I said, is not showing up. I've tried cycling through the windows using Ctrl+Tab but that doesn't do it. I've tried finding it using Windows 7's window pane "flip" command but if memory serves, the Keyboard Shortcuts window is opened inside of Revit so that wouldn't work anyway. I've tried pulling the program window open across 2 screens, as large as possible and tried the command to see if it was hidden somewhere but that didn't show anything either. Any information, tips, or suggestions that anyone has would be much appreciated. Thanks Kris

maybe its hidden on the periphery of your screen? do this. type your keystroke for keyboard shortcuts and hit tab 3 times then enter. if the import dialog pops up then your shortcuts are hidden somewhere on your screen and you'll just have to find it. if not... i don't know what to do. restart???

dialog boxes like this record their position in the regestry and you can reset it there...you will find that info under current user, software, Autodesk, Revit, Components....you may want to find another machine where to works correctly and compare those values to yours.

Brettgoodchild, Any chance you could be a little more specifi when you're mentioning this registry? I'm looking anywhere I can think to look and I'm not finding it. Does the file have a name I could search for? Thank you, Kris.

Delete your UIState.dat file should reset your User Interface to its default. http://revitclinic.typepad.com/my_weblog/2009/04/revit-2010-ui.html

Spot, Will this work for Revit Structure 2011? I'm assuming this will reset the physical location of the "keyboard shortcuts" dialog box on the Revit screen and not the keyboard shortcuts themselves. Thanks,

Sorry for the delayed response. But no it won't effect your shortcuts, its just restores all elements of the UI to their default positions.

A bit of a delayed response but I did locate and delete the UIstate.dat file and restart the pc and that did not affect the location of the keyboard shortcuts dialog. Any other files where this location information would be stored? Thanks, Kris

I was able to find my keyboard shortcuts window by hooking my laptop back up to the projector and simply dragging it back to the proper place. I realize this is not possible for people with a spare projector or monitor sitting around, but it worked for me.
