...........................actually, I imported it fine, deleted it, and then tried to re-import it and nothing happens. I must have some setting turned off but can't imagine what it is. Any suggestions?

Yes, but it now has gotten wierder. I tried to copy the dwg from an earlier save of this file for the fourth time and this time it worked. I must have finally had my tongue pointed out of the correct side of my mouth. I am doing control "C" for copy and control "V" for paste. I have no idea why it finally worked. Where did the "paste same location" option go to in 2011? Each time I tried to insert the CAD file, it would not appear. I checked the hide settings, backed off in 3D forever to see if it got inserted in some wierd location, etc. No import visible. Now it is back. What gives?

the best advice for importing DWG into revit is- don't do it.. linking in a site plan that was created in a separate session of revit with a DWG import- that's fine.. but trust me- don't ever import and explode a DWG in your revit project.. but do import DWGs into a separate session of revit and slice and dice and measure so you can create stuff in your project from it.. i like to import a DWG 3D wireframe into a separate session of revit as a mass.. you usually only need to measure a minimal amount of geometry to create the rest of it in your project.. if you keep everything clean- everything usually works good..
