I have specified a raised access floor for a project that i am currently working on and have created a family for the individual floor tile (2x2). Thia works great until i hit a wall and the size of the tile must be modified. Is there an easy way to "trim" the component without having to create new families for each different sized tile? Or is there a way to see where the wall hits the tile in the family editor? Maybe a reference plane or a model line? Thanks for the help!

if i understand what you are saying, you should be able to make a void componet and put it over top over top of the tile that needs to be "trimmed" and cut the void area from the componet.

I don't believe Bimman's answer will work. You need to edit the family to create sizes by type or by instance. It should have been created that way initially anyhow.

if you do an in place componet of the tile on the floor, and before you finish the componet you make a void to cut out what is under the wall. i read that it was a componet, re reading it could go either way what he is asking. but you are correct if it is a family it will not work. if the tile family is set up with a para for length and width he could place the size needed at the wall edges. sorry to he just habbit if you are a she i amd sorry.

the problem is that the wall is angled, so just changing the dimensions does not work. I need to just trim off the part that the wall is intersecting but once i enter the family editor, i can no longer see where the wall is intersecting the component. Any ideas?

Yes.... the answer is to have the one edge of the family controlled by a movable reference plane that also has an angle control. A lot of work for this! Why are you placing individual floor tiles in the first place? We would model the floor as a floor type that has a pattern in plan views and add detatail elements in section cuts. Not everything has to be modeled at the component level. We don't model individual blocks in a masonry wall, would you? Same situation here.
