I keep running into a problem with my spot elevations reading 1/4" less than they should?

I have the type set to read decimal feet with two decimal places. I have (for example) a wall that is constrained to a top elevation of 80.00  when I try to take a spot elevation of the wall it is reading 87.96.  This is frequently happening in the project. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the help Smile

The units on these tags can be set independent of the project units.  Check your tag's unit settings.  I bet they are rounded....

Thanks for replying Smile

The spot elevation tags are set to round to two decimal places.  This should not throw off the measurements by .04'  Maybe I am looking in the wrong place. Is it a project settings issue?  I am looking in the edit type properties box.

If your tag units are set correctly, then it could be that the point you are trying to identify is not where you think it is.  I like to model with the best accuracy I can attain.  If your project units are rounded - chek that then add a finer dimension style and check your model.

This problem has been solved...and it was easier than I thought.  The Level 1 in our model (which elements are being modeled off of) was off by a fraction.  Moving the level in elevation solved everything.
