Hello all. I am having trouble with the "Insert Views from File" command in Revit 2011. I keep getting an error message that reads, "Unable to insert objects into file," or something to that effect. But here's the weird part: After you try it three or four times, it will work. This is obviously very aggravating and time consuming. Does anyone know what might be causing this and, more to the point, what I can do to make it stop? Thanks! -Jason

Obviously these are 2D drafting views. What kind of elements do they contain? Any CAD inserts? Any CAD inserts in families?

I have run across this on past releases of Revit Structure (2009/2010). In my case the views for insert were 2d drafting views containing only native revit families. I was able to track down the cause to a specific custom family. This was a type based detail component family (not line based) that contained a nested "shared" linebased detail component. If I recall the project I was inserting into already contained the nested linebased family but it was not the shared version. (note the nested shared version was outdated) Interestingly removing only those detail components allowed me to insert the details without issue. Shame on the dialog for being so vague

I'm having the same issue and no clue what to do about it. I have a typical wall section that was created inside revit as a drafting view and now I can't import it. grrrrrr.

You say wall section but is it a drafting view or was it cut as a model view and model elements are tutned off? What kind of elements do they contain? Any CAD inserts? Any CAD inserts in families?

I just ran into the same problem and was able to isolate the exact issue. The views that refused to import were views that were attempting to display outdated and missing CAD file links. I corrected the problem by removing the CAD file links from Manage tab/Manage Links) and the sheet imported just fine!
