I am VERY new to the Revit world, but not to 3D or to AutoCAD. From some of you gurus - where would I start to build my revit families up? I noticed on Kohler that they had QUITE a few revit families, but what are some other resources? Can I import some from SketchUp? How does that work? Is there some other advice that you might have to make my transition easier? I would also like to use my own elevation markers , etc over the "standard" ones that come with Revit. Can I use those? We did not want our drawings to look TOO different than what we are used to in AutoCAD. Do you have some advice on that? All of this is VERY much appreciated!! Angela Revit Architecture 2011

First of all: Welcome to Revit's World, I work in Autocad since 1989/90 so i have a long way in CAD too. "where would I start to build my revit families up?" - i think you should start from the "Tutorials": http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=14844953&linkID=9243097 "I noticed on Kohler that they had QUITE a few revit families, but what are some other resources?" - there are several sites where you can download families like www.Revitcity.com http://www.revitcomponents.blogspot.com/ http://www.greenheck.com/drawings/ http://www.littledetailscount.com/ http://www.familit.com/?mod=2 and you have much more if you search "Can I import some from SketchUp? How does that work?" - Yes you can, here in "Forums" search for "Sketchup" you will find lots of threads about that. "Is there some other advice that you might have to make my transition easier?" - Yes, learn the most you can every day. "I would also like to use my own elevation markers , etc over the "standard" ones that come with Revit. Can I use those?" - You can create your owns, you have templates to do that: New > Family > Annotations "We did not want our drawings to look TOO different than what we are used to in AutoCAD. Do you have some advice on that?" - With time you will learn.... Good Luck...

HAHAHA. I had looked that up but the button never appeared. After selecting another wall - I realized that temporary dimensions are on and that I cannot use the dimensions because the wall was anchored to an exterior wall. Now I think I need to go to bed LOL
