how do you control walls and components so they allow lines and images to show through?

I also have been unable to find a solution for getting simple things like images maped into Elevations. This is commonly done in CAD - like adding logos to elevations or signs and such- There seems to be no way to do so in Revit. I think it is something the programers never thought of.

If your doing it for rendering purposes used decals. Otherwise, yes its a bit of a bugger.
The only way to get an image to display on top of any model element in revit is to create a new annotation symbol and import the image into that then load the family in.
Be sure to link the height and width parameters so you can adjust the size in the project...

Mr. Spot, Will this work in a titleblock situation? We are trying to make a presentation titleblock that has a solid black fill with company logos on top of the black fill. In the titleblock family itself, we have set the images to foreground on top of the solid black fill. However when we load the titleblock into a project file the images don't show up. Using version 9.1
