I was hoping that someone could enlighten me as to what the common mistakes that lead to this error are. Its been happening alot in the last couple of days and we're both beginners here. Are there any articles/links that anyone can recomend to help us understand what we are dong wrong here? There are only two of us working on the file at the moment, (probably no more for the diration of this project).

I have run into that error several times. Its an incompatibility issue between the local file and the central. I've noticed that it occurs when adding worksets or moving objects from one to another. Save (synchronize) to central more often.

Both of you are working in local files created from the central? In other words, make sure neither of you are writing overtop of the central file. Your local should be saved locally.

We are both working in local files saved from the central file. We've been consistently synchronising every 30mins for the entire project. The advice we got when we started was - since we were only two people and working on a small house don't worry about worksets, just borrow each element. --- is this contributing to the problem? I can handle the error once or twice no worries, but when it happen five times in a day you lose a lot of work. Just frustrating.

This is not a workset issue. We have several people working on the same project and they are just borrowing elements. Revit is constantly communicating with the central - not just when you save to central. When you borrow an element, it locks it in the network file (central) and no other user can manipulate / change it. Just a guess here,,,, While in Revit, click on the R and select the options button. Who does it show as the username on each of your systems? They can not be the same. Otherwise, I think you will need to contact your re-seller for advice. This may be a network problem and your files are failing to communicate with the central.

Thank-you Mr WWHub!! The same username was in use on both computers. We have just started for the day, so if we run into that problem again I'll get someone in to look at the server.
