In Revit 2011, I'm trying to split a wall into 3 segments in plan so that the middle segment can be changed to a thinner wall type (think pilasters and infill). The split tool works pretty well in this case since it will break it up into 3 adjacent walls. The problem is that I have no way of snapping to a dummy line that I created to show exactly where it is supposed to split. As soon as I move my cursor to the intersection, it automatically highlights the dummy line instead, thinking that I'm trying to split the line instead of the wall. I find myself making a messy split and just fixing it up later using other tools. In essesnce, how do you split a wall to a predefined point using only 1 command?

Very simple, just split then change the temporary dimension to 0.00, watch the video: http://screencast.com/t/YjE3Y2Q3
