Hi, I'm looking for a supermarket cash desk family - looked for one and can't seem to find one. Would anyone have one by any chance? Thanks very much in advance. Steve.

You can find items like this in Google warehouse and bring them into a Revit family. The problem is, are they correct in size? If this is just a school project, that might be ok. But otherwise, I would want to build my own families that meet the specifications of the project.

Thanks very much for the reply. I'm currently working on my first proper Revit project so please excuse my ignorance. I've gone to the Google Warehouse as you suggested and found a couple of blocks that look similar to what I'm after, however these are Sketchup files. What is the best way to get these into Revit, should I just open a family template and drop them in somehow? Thanks again, Steve.

I have to make you aware I am really new to Revit so anyone please feel welcome to correct me. Firstly I download a Sketchup file that was the type of Family I required. I then opened a Revit Family Template for the type of Family I wanted to create. I then inserted the Sketchup file, saved and Loaded into my project. The problem I did encounter however was that I could not edit any of the Sketchup geometry - as soon as I exploded it, most of the lines dissappeared - also it was not parametric. Maybe someone could help please? Many thanks.

I think you are doing great! As you have found out - you don't modify geometry of CAD or sketchup 3D elements in REVIT. The only modification you can make is to materials by assigning them to the ACAD layers.

Thanks for the positive comments. It sounds like then that the best way to get the family types you require is to build them yourself? The problem for me at the moment is time - I'm slowly getting the hang of this but I need some family elements quickly if possible. Are there any sites (apart from here of course) you could recommend for downloading? Your help is really appreciated!
