I'm not really sure how to ask the questions, but hopefully the attached image will help. im not an engineer, though for this project im pretending to be one (much to my dismay) ive got an architects revit model linked into my mep file. the rooms in the architects model dont really account for the volume, which i assume i really need to have correct in order for mep to create the space from the room. you can see the space on the left - thats an auditorium with theater style seating and an orchestra pit. It sure would be nice if i could get the space to recognize how the floors work - you can see the boundary for the auditorium "leaking" thru the floor - im guessing this will give an incorrect volume for the space, which will in turn contribute to an incorrect calculation for conditioning the auditorium. how do i fix this, or should i even be concerned about it? is this a problem with the architects model? thus far, ive tried creating the space on different levels, as well as adjusting the computation height for the levels. ive checked to make sure all worksets are on in the view, no elements are hidden, and all phases are correct (there is only one - new construction) ive also verified there are no walls attached to the lower levels with some kind of silly base offset. Ive gone back into the architects model and verified that all floors are bounding elements, and there are no gaps between the floors..and still it seems to find these 'gaps' in the floors. another question i have regarding how spaces are defined: at least in this case, the auditorium has several rooms in it - the main auditorium, the stage, and the balcony. but these rooms are separated by boundary lines and levels, not walls, so its really one big conditioned space...how do i get MEP to see it this way? any help would be most appreciated!
