Hi, I am still not so familiar about the family.I would like to add fire resistant symbol in the door family(like the dynamic block in the CAD)The effect I would like to achieve is when I insert the door family in the project, there will be a default value(30 or 60) and I can still change the value when I want. Is there anyone can help to tell me how to make these kind of symbol in Revit? Thanks

Detail -> Symbolic Line You can draw whatever you want as symbol by lines or even import another family (symbol family). If you want 1 family with all these symbols included (would be the right way) you should open Family Editor with template for creating symbols and here you have icon right from"Text" that has "A" withsmall paper on left bottom side. Through this, you can create symbol that has text parameter and you can create Family types with numbers or you can just create it for any number changable in family options. (Someone will surely tell you tha nema of the icon but i have Revit in other language)

i would consider trying some symbolic lines in plan view, with a text parameter that can only be 30 or 60. all in the family editor of course. make sure they are only visible if the instance is cut. i am sure advanced users will have a bigger answer.

Sorrry, After I placed symbolica line and text(under annotate tab), I could not add pararmeter for the text? When I select the text in the door family, there is no label option on the above unlike the annotate family template. How to slove it? Thanks

You have to create new family with this symbol and add the family into the doors family. This new family must be done as families for notes (description) or whatever the right term for it is. There you dont see only: "A" to add text but ".A" (in place of dot, there is small paper). This option is only in specific family for notes. Text "A" is simple text and ".A" is parametric and is used for this. When you open the "New family" you are in "Metric Templates" there you have 3 folders. 1 of them is folder with templates to Notes. Here you have templates with option to add Parametric text. Here you can see the Icon:

Rather than creating a symbol which is a 2D CAD centric approach, why not simply create a door tag that displays the fire rating of the door in minutes. Door families have a default fire rating parameter than can be used. This keeps displaying the fire rating of the doors to conform to the 'I' in BIM which is information the data centric approach.
