I'm trying to learn how to edit families and I've noticed that I can't seem to move objects in certain planes.

For example, I drew a rectangle in plan view and extruded it.  While in plan view, I can move the box freely.  However, when I switch to elevation view, I am constrained to moving the box only left and right.  I cannot move the box up and down.

I realize that you can just adjust the parameters and the box will move in the Z direction accordingly.  However, you are not given this option in a shape that is created with the sweep tool (sweep-created objects seem to be locked to the reference plane).

 Any advice is appreciated!

If you click on the Extrusion, there will be small symbol that is Clickable, that's what keeps it on reference plane where it was created ... if you click on it -> it dissappears and you can freely move it in elevation view.
