I had the walls all lined up and then went and moved the 1st flr. walls, now when I try to draw the second floor walls on top of the 1st flr.. walls below they are being placed offset of the first flr. on the elevation. the funny thing is that as I'm drawing them in on the 2nd flr.  floor plan  I have the 1st flr. as a underlay and they appear to be stacking up correctly.

Try using the align tool and make sure that you are using the correct line to start with. I generally align wood walls by outside core, this is the typical construction technique. Also make good use of the grid and lock your walls onto it. This will help prevent them from moving by mistake.

i would also suggest once you align them you lock them so they stay together.  that way if you move your second floor both floors will move together and you do not have to move or realign the second floor walls to match the first floor walls.
