I am having a go at using a formula for the first time so please excuse my ignorance here. I am using Revit 2011 Architecture I have a sweep in a family that has an instance parameter "Radius". I wish another dimension (lets call it X, from the sweep to a reference plane) to be set the same as the radius, and when I click on the reference plane and edit the relevant dimension to "=Radius" I get the error message "formulas cannot refer to other parameters". Yet the Revit help says "Formulas allow you to create parameters that depend on other parameters for their values." Now, should I be creating a parameter for X to so this, and if so, where would I input the formula? Also, how do I edit parameters once I have created them?

make sure "X" is also an instance parameter. make sure you don't type the = symbol just copy the radius parameter to the second field (as shown in the image)

Thanks. Both are instance parameters. Silly question: how did you get to the dialog displayed in your image?
