Hello. I have got some existing pavement vaults. between the top of the vaults and the pavement surface is approx 1m of earth fill. In my model i have drawn the pavement vaults and the pavement, leaving a gap between them (where the earth should go). I would like to know if people think it is worth trying to fill this gap with something ( toposurface? mass?) in the 3d model or just put a hatch on the required 2d sections. Thanks for your advise

There have been threads on "tunnel" and "underground" structures here at RC before. Try searching the forum with those terms and also watch the related posts that always show up on the bottom of the various threads.
