I'm trying to put some lighting in my project and when i go to the ceiling plan a round symbol with a diagonal line comes up saying 'Click on ceiling to place instance'. Can anyone help please!

That symbol can appear because of two things: 1º- You don't have already created a Ceiling and you are trying to insert a light ceiling based. 2º- You have the ceiling created and the light you are trying to insert isn't a Ceiling based... Check both situations....

yeah his right first of all i think you should make sure that you have drawn ceiling first then trining to add lighting component to it,good luck,
