Hi, I'm embarking on setting up some of my titleblocks in revit as a revit family (and learning along the way). One strange thing is happening - I essentially want to create a line with a 2.5mm gap in it. To do this I draw the line, then offset one of the side lines to where I want to the gap to start, then I offset it again by 2.5mm. I then trim out the bit in between. The problem is, that when I delete the lines I have offset and used for trimming the line rejoins up again. I assume this is a 'feature' and is turn offable - Could anyone point me to where this is set. Cheers.

No setting to control the joining of lines. It is a nice feature, but sometimes gets in you way. The best trick is to move the lines way and on the options bar check the "disjoin" box. This will usually do the trick.

Do you mean unjoin in the Geometry panel of the modify ribbon? I can't seem to get that to work? I draw a line, then start another one some way from the end of it, I pick the second lines end point about 2mm away from the first point - but instead of placing it where I picked, it joins it to the first line. Unjoin doesn't seem to want to pick solid geometry..? Am I looking at the wrong thing? Cheers.

I played with this and found out if you draw 2 lines with a large gap between them, then dimension the ends of the lines (hit TAB until just the end of the line is selected) - you can then select either line and change the dimension to 2.5 and the lines will stay separate.

OK - that works thanks. It just seems odd to me. Why can't I draw a line how I want it - surely this 'feature' is turn off able? I just want to draw one line, then another line in front of it ending at 2.5mm from the end of the first. The titleblock has loads of 2.5mm gaps in it, it would take a lot longer to draw if I have to dimension all of them and then adjust them...
