HelloIm fairly new to Revit, - I use 2010 at work, but had some +2 years of experience with Archicad.

The problem I need to resole goes like this:

We are designing a building which elevation will consist of 6 types of module. A module has 3 identical windows in different horizontal  position plus some additional panels etc.

How I wanted to approach this is first to create a single window family for a single window, then create another family - window family probably? -  with those 3 windows inserted and the additional things I need like panels etc.

What I hope for id to have a 1 family which is 1 type of module but at the same time be able to schedule the windows separatelly.

Could you tell me if I approach this right?

Thank You in advance

You can nest a window family into another window family but to schedule the windows separatelly, open the nested family, go to Category and parameters and turn ON "Shared"...

Ohh BTW.. Welcome to Revit's World....

A module in reality will be a piece of concrete wall, ie. 3600 high, 7200 wide. in every module there will ne 3 windows same set height from the ground but different place

so it can be like:  W___WW or W__W__W

Hello Again

So I encountered my first problem

- created a window family with single window - works ok!

- created another window family which is a modue of 3 windows - works ok!

- unfortunatelly I need some cutouts next to the windows - so I created a soild void and joined with wall next to the window - it works when in window family but not when inserted into the model Sad

Could anybody help me ? I attach the family files I used

I need the window to actually be a separate family within a family - so then I can schedule every window separatelly but to actually insert modules of 3I attached the family I want to insert into walls in main model - it does not work unfortunatelly

To schedule you must turn ON the shared parameter...

Thank you.I think you already mentioned it in your post.First |I was planning to sort out properly the issue with this void which actually blocks me from putting the family into a project.

And you want that "void" around the whole building? Because if it's what you want you don't need to create that void, just use "Stacked walls"

I was thinking about it, but unfortunatelly I need it only in certain areas, alos I woild have to prepare some kind of patter by placing voids in the wall - so it would be useful if I could make it work, and to be honest I can not undertand why it doesnt
