TONS of REVIT family creating videos here > www.CADclips.com
Try also searching Youtube for 'cadclip'.
My best advice to a novice REVIT content creator is:
1. Start a new family with the correct template.
2. Check /take note of the family category.
3. Create the reference planes.
4. Create the constraining dimensions to the reference planes.
5. Turn the dimenions into Parameters. (instance and type)
6. Flex the parameters to make sure ALL the reference planes behave properly.
7. THEN and ONLY THEN Model the solid / void geometry and align and lock to the reference planes.
8. Load the family into a project and flex in that environment.
9. Go back and forth between family and project to tweek as required.
Anyone else please feel free to add or append this list.
