OK, so starting Friday afternoon, Revit Structure 2010 64-bit won't start at all. It has been working fine since RS2010 was released, and I didn't change anything on the computer Friday. RS2009 and RS2011 (64bit) both work fine. The splash screen comes up when I click the icon, but then disappears and nothing else happens. The Revit process starts in task manager, but then disappears shortly after the splash screen disappears. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, but it did no good. I really don't know what else to try at this point. Does anyone have any thoughts?

This is really bad timing, as I have an RS2010 job due to go out 100% finished on Wednesday, and I need to be working on it.

I have a similar problem this morning with Revit Architecture 2010. On the first attempt to run Revit, the splash screen comes up for about 30 seconds and then the application shuts down. Looking in Task Manager as this happens, the process Revit.exe runs and then vanishes. Another process then runs briefly called something like ISYSbridge.exe which may be a tidy up of poorly terminated processes, or may be unrelated, I don't know. Subsequent attempts to run result in a shorter time to the process closing, and rebooting has not helped. It was running fine yesterday...

Sorry, i'm no real help, but i've had similar problems. not sure which 'bit' version i have, but my 2010 revit architecture is doin a similar thing, only the splash comes up and stays there, doin nothing to start the program up. Yesterday it was there the whole day while i got on with other things. This morning it did it again, and after a few mins, i clicked the shortcut to the program again and pressed enter, and it worked. the first splash screen is still there, but the progam is at least running... maybe this re-clicking could help you guys in structure program??

I have just tried that and got an error message, which allowed me to send a report to Autodesk at least. but the processes both died at splash screen stage. The second time I tried it it didn't even give the error message - just croaked at splash screen stage. The Error Report resulted in an automatically suggested update which I tried, but no success. I will now get around to installingmy subscription copy of Revit 2011 I guess... Can't exactly do anything else... Edited on: Mon, May 10, 2010 at 9:41:58 PM And now 2011 runs...

Well, our IT guys figured out how to fix the problem. We edited the registry and deleted the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit Structure 2010\Components\WebServices After that, it started back up fine again. Revit will reset this key if it is missing when you run it, so deleting it is not a problem. Hope this helps for you guys.

So the problem may have been related to your Internet Browser and or version which most Autodesk software relies on? I have learned that both the Internet Browser and your Anti-Virus software can hinder / cripple REVIT / Autodesk software at installation time as well as running time.

Thank you. I will keep that in mind for any future issues. The only change on my system between Revit working and croaking had been an update to a minor add-on to Firefox, so I wonder whether that was the cause?

I've been having a similar problem, I use Revit MEP 2010 64bit and it would only start if i run the program as Administrator otherwise the splash screen would pop up and then nothing else. I deleted the registery key as per structureguy's post and Revit is now working fine. Thanks for your help!

I have been having the same false start issue for a day and a half now, before finding this thread. Can anybody direct me to where this registry might be?

go to start menu and then run 'regedit' and then go through the steps as above: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit Structure 2010\Components\WebServices right click webservices and delete when you restart Revit it should replace the files, worked for me first time.

This worked for me as well. Just delete the entire WebServices folder (and sub-folders). Like magic everything works again.

This fix will work for all three revit disciplines on 2010 & 2011 releases. The official Autodesk fix for when Revit Won't Run or Start Up is to delete the WSCommCntrData.xml file within the directory stated above.
