I have a door in a plan that I need to dimension from it's center line to an exterior wall. When I highlight it the temporary dimensions shows on one side to the next element but the other side shows no dimension line but it does show the little blue dot for the witness line. I've tried just dimensioning it manually but the dimension line I draw will not dimension to the centerline of the door. Why is this segment of the dimension line for the door not showing?

If this is an out of the box revir door, it will dimension to the center. Did you use the tab key while being near the center of the door?

It's a standard door provided by the Imperial Library. I tried tab and all it did was flash at me and never grabbed on to anything.

Were you using the linear dimension tool instead of the aligned tool?

I was using the temporary dimensions that appear when you click the door.

Use the aligned dimension and tab to find the center or make the temp dimension permanent and edit the witness line. This will work unless you are doing something you haven't told us ... an image while you are in the command would help us see what you are doing. Screenhunter allows you to capture that for free.

You're printscreen (PRT SC) button does too, just in case you wanted a simpler method. This an image of what happens when I highlight the door and the temporary dimensions appear. Notice that no dimension line appears but a blue dot for the witness line does.

I don't know why the top dimension is not there but the bottom part is. Why don't you do what I suggested? Use the aligned dimension and tab to find the center or make the temp dimension permanent and edit the witness line. Use the complete temp. dimension you have - make it permanent then edit the witness line.
