Hi Autodesk,

As a Revit consultant, I am working with trying to do some real production renderings in Revit and the rendering times are just killing me.  24 hours for some of my interior renderings or more....  I have reduced the amount of lights, and worked through lots of the materials to be not reflective and it is just taking eons to get through.  All over the Revit city forums I find complaints about how long the renderings take and most people are recommending to convert to 3ds Max.  However that conversion is not easy and involves completely reassigning the materials to the model (not to mention the lights and camera views)....  Is Revit 2011 going to deal with these issues?

Interior renders in Revit are a pain in the heck.... But, in 2011 they improve a little bit... they removal of 4 core rendering limit which means it's a little faster depending on the machine you have.... but I still believe MAX is faster than Revit...

"However that conversion is not easy and involves completely reassigning the materials to the model (not to mention the lights and camera views).... ".....False!!

FBX:  You can export a 3D view from a Revit project to an FBX file, and import the file into 3ds Max. The FBX file format passes rendering information to 3ds Max, including lights, render appearances, sky settings, and material assignments for the 3D view. By preserving this information during the export process, Revit Architecture maintains a high degree of fidelity and reduces the amount of work required in 3ds Max.
