Hello, hopefully somebody out there can give me a hand with understanding how these things typically work.  I am the resident CAD/BIM guy for an Acoustics/AV consultant.  Our typical scope of work involves things like Video-Conferencing, sound systems (for theaters, classrooms, etc.), TV distribution, so on.  We're expecting the architects we work with to start sharing revit models with us instead of CAD backgrounds, which leads me to wonder, how do other firms and smaller cosultants approach sharing a revit model between companies?  Is there any work-flow method that somebody can suggest?

I suspect that you will be getting very familiar with linking files.  We "clean" Architect's Revit file by deleting most of the sheets, extraneous views and purging thee file.  Then it is linked, set to half tone and used as a "background".

Conversly, they clean our file and link it in a similar manner into theirs.
