I work in meters, when I export revit view (3d or 2d) to Autocad i get milimeters (everything is multiplied with 1000) is it possible to have meters in exported dwg???

Interesting... first, may I ask why do you work in meters? second, I see no option to set units in the export, but I would just scale the dwg in Autocad by 0.001 should take you back to meters.

Because local building code is in meters. Yes I do scaling, but is it possible to have it automaticaly (point of origin). My office should decide to upgrade adt3.3s to Revits or ADT 2006, Im afraid that ADT for them looks more feesable. (dwg compatibility, scheduling (european), stairs) I personaly vote for Revit but office workflow is very ACAD based (many LTs and ADTs)

I C... It's just a matter of typing0,0,0 when Autocad ask you to pick a point to scale (i'm sure you know that though Smile ) I think it's going to be a mistake for them to use ADT as it will be phazed out in the near future. Revit is getting better with DWG export and the future is bright! what do you mean by "scheduling (european), stairs" I had no problem with the two of them really...

labeling (my mistake), european (german) win or door labels are different and almost impossible to make them in revit family editor. Stairs need more refinement, number on every step, stair line vanishes if stair is more complicated than usual, I dont lnow how to use snap with structural elements ( I need them to snap to everything not only to other structural element, etc). For me ADT sucks, i use it for 6 years and Revit is the right choice. Main curent problem for Revit is lack of good photoreal render, if you compare to archicad revit is very basic. It needs some good win or door family which should cover all aspects of most doors or windows, like in ADT, and for something extra we can use family explorer, nobody is going to pay my time to make win with desired number of muntins and specific layout. THX for your care

what kind of tags do you use? can you show me an example? now days we have one door that can do and change to any type of door... it won't take long to change windows to what you need, I'm sure Smile snap to structural elements- do you want walls to snap to columns? give me an example, I never had trouble with that too... and don't even try to produce a presentation quality render with Revit. it sucks big time! it's not even the full version! for best results you will need to export to Viz (another $7000AU thank you very much!) and render there.

door window labels should follow orientation of door, window, Im in proces to meke some perfect family for door and window but it is lot of work with lots of parameters and I dont have much of time to dedicate to that issue. For instance please to use timber structural beam and to snap its start or end point to any point on non-structural element, like wall, furniture etc. Maybe it is not right from structural point of view but Im architect and I deal with all elements of project not only structural layout. Yes we have autodesk viz4 in the office which I use and most of rendering is done by me, everybody use ADT as ACAD exept me, sometimes (competitions) Im on the edge of nervous breakdown because nobody deals with render and 3d, if we adopt Revit it will be liberating for us. We had Archicad, but its almost unusefull with non-standard architecture (archicad 8 or earlier). We need Bim environment but it is very difficult to convince boss who allready invested lot of money in software. We are not asa big as your office. THX for helping me.

structural elements like bearers or joists need to be supported and revit will take it to the center of wall, I know what you mean and it is annoying sometime... about the window and door tag you could either: 1. create 4 different tags for left right up and down or 2. create one tag with 4 sides that you can turn on and off. once you do it you will use it forever... Smile good luck

I am having the same problem with Usoniani. I have to work in meters as well and when i export to autocad everything is multiplied by 1000. Of course i could easily scale down by a 1000 but then the drawing is messed up cause i need to adjust the text height as well and when you have a lot of detailing info its really confusing. please help
