Hello, I'm trying to add a pad to my topography, so that my building is cut out. Any time I add a pad though, instead of cutting out the building like it normally does, this time the pad creates a sort of box, or topography infill that seems to reference the 0' 0" Level. So its working in the opposite way I want it to, adding land instead of subtracting it. Are there any settings I should check out? I've restarted revit, recreated the pad in different areas (it does the same thing any where on the surface) and I've recreated the surface as well. I'm stuck. It's going to be a pain detail masking all the topography that shows through in my building sections... Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. If you pick on the PAD and go to the properties you will see the parameters to control the offset elevation for your PAD and if you will you can change the thickness and the material also...

Even when I change those properties the pad does not cut the topography.. even when its located well below the topography surface. It doesn't make any sense...

You can't really see it in 3d, since its inside the house. I posted part of a section.. can you see that? thats where the porblem is.... its just not cutting out the land in the house.

lalaroo, I'm having the same problem with my model (see attached pdf example), have you found a solution?
I modeled the building, created a toposurface and added a building pad set to the lowest level (top of basement slab), but in both section view and 3D view, the toposurface is still present in my basement. Additionally, at the exterior of the building there is no line shown where the toposurface meets the outside face of foundation wall...there must be a way to fix this.
I also tried creating a new project and adding a toposurface and building pad, however in this case, the building pad correctly cut through the toposurface. I've checked my phase settings, and everything is set to "existing".
Any help will be GREATLY appreciated! By the way, I'm using Revit 2011. Thanks!

Sounds like you may have two topo surfaces in the same place and your pad only cuts one of them.
As a test, delete the topo surface. You can always undo.

WWHub, I've gone so far as to delete and recreate the existing toposurface and building pad to no avail. I've also tried filtering out everything but the toposurface and pad in the site plan view, but the pad still won't cut the toposurface.
I was checking over my basement plan and found that two of the foundation walls were flipped (outside face was facing in, and vice versa). I just corrected that issue and I'm about to recreate the topo/bldg pad...I'll let you know how it turns out!

Turn off the building and just look at your topo. If your pad doesn't cut the topo, then you are not doing a pad!
