hi, i'm new to revit and revitcity. i did the 3 day revit course in brisbane and enrolled at tafe, ashmore on an rpl to finish my diploma in building design. i have an nzcd in architecture from back in the day but needed to re-achieve my diploma with a CAD course. i'm on the gold coast and looking for someone to tutor me on a project to project basis. i'm 10 weeks into my course and now realize that the instruction i received was inadequate and default by nature. does anyone know anyone from brisbane or the gold coast that could assist? i'm 56, talented and unemployed with a wife who is almost legally blind now. i need this to further my employment opportunities. tafe, ashmore use archicad...there are only 2 of us using revit thru-out all of the classes...co-dependent. there are no revit instructors available. let me know...i am happy to travel or have someone stay over at my residence. the software is the best i've seen but i spend more time self teaching than i do actually creating. cheers...doug brown

I am at TAFE...they have one REVIT program installed...and there are no instructors able to advise.

my current project is attached. i have spent hours surfing the help menu. i need to construct curved structural steel framing with purlins and covered in corrugated colourbond sheeting on a soundproof barrier.

i know you are attached to REVIT but what is the cost of your tutoring?

there are other simple issues i need to resolve...sweeps and profiles i've done but can't remember how i did them...i tried to cut a profile across an extrusion i made as a subsoil for the sloped site but 4 hrs later it wasn't happening. the topography tool doesn't allow for depth and layers...grass, sand, soil, clay etc.

most important is the structural steel. if you can show me how to make an edit in that family an upload it i would grateful.

kind regards, doug brown.

ps...i am talented...maybe i'm wasting my time here and should travel there for an immersion course. i know what i need to draw but i'm 56 and still thinking like a draftsperson.

You are in the right place if you want to advance in your Revit modeling... my suggestion would be to learn all the basic first - "hands-on". (i.e., walls, doors, windows, curtain walls, etc...) once you get the hang of modeling this stuff, then i'll go deeper in the families... this way you would have already have some kind a knowledge from modeling those building elements. Self-teaching is far better for me than any other, but of course with the help of "F1" and the ppl/forum of Revit City. Enjoy it!
