I'm a new user to RevitCity. Today I downloaded a file from the "downloads" section. The file is "Carriage_Garage_Door_2347.rfa" from the download list. Once I downloaded it, I tried to move it to a new directory...and that's when I noticed the first issue. I could not move the file at all. I then tried to move it inside 'Windows Explorer'....but everytime I got to the place where that particular file was at, a message would pop up saying that "Windows Explorer needs to shut down" and it would shut down. I tried to delete that file.....but it will not budge. Even trying to move it to the Recycle Bin brings the same result....nothing. So I'm not sure what this file did to my machine.....but now it shuts down my Windiows Explorer everytime I try to use it. The file is on my "Desktop"....and every time I go to that section on Windows Explorer....it shuts down. I can actually open the file in Revit...and it seems fine. Both my Malware and Anti-Virus software show it as clean (along with my entire system). This is all occuring on my laptop machine....and now I think I have to completely reformat this machine to get rid of it. Not a very good start to my experience on RevitCity. Anyone have any ideas before I reformat? I've tried a few things (with my very limited computer knowledge).....but nothing works. Thanks, Lyle

Hi Tilt441, firstly welcome here.....Look, this issue has nothing to do with RC. Although you don't mention if you're on Vista or XP, this issue apparently only happens on Vista and Mozilla as browser. You don't have to format your machine. There are 2 software that are good at this: http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ (32bits systems) and http://lockhunter.com/ (32 & 64 bits systems). Try downloading your file again using IE as browser.

Yeah, I do apologize for inferring that RC was to blame for the issue. I'd say the blame lands on my shoulders. I'm using Windows 7 (Home Premium), and downloaded the file with IE 8. Still not sure how or what that has to do with the way the file reacted. That was the weirdest thing I've encountered in a long time on computers. The file really bugged out a lot of things. Yet checking it with anti-malware and anti-virus came up clean. The lockhunter program worked....but it even had a lot of trouble with it. It took several tries (using different angles to tag the file) to delete it. And the recycling bin even crashed a few times trying to clean it off the machine. But it eventually left. I've never seen a file bug like that before. Thank you very much for the tip. You saved me a ton of headaches.
