I cannont figure this out. The tutorial says to create a split in the layer (which I did) then "Under Modify Vertical Structure (Section Preview only), click Assign Layers. On the Preview pane, select the 0' 8" high region between the split lines as shown. Place the cursor at the bottom of the region to select it. " when you click "assign layers" there is no way to pick just the split area, only the whole layer, top to bottom is selectable. What am I doing wrong?

It a bit tricky to select the layer. Try zooming in the preview (click on modify then zoom the view up). You may also want to explore the stacked walls option. I find it much easier and more powerful than splitting the layers. The split layers was the only option once upon a time, then I believe in 7.0 the stacked walls came along. HTH Tom

Have used them. there were problems previously with joins at corners and other 3d issues. Haven't used them in 8.0 yet. Actually, I gave up on the vert. compound wall in this case and made a stacked wall. Thanks!
