We are on REVIT Architecture 2009, network license in our labs. A student took a project he had been working on here over to our library, opened the file there, worked on it and saved it and brought it back here. All the RVT files, including the backups are showing the same message when we try to open the file "Cannot Open File". We have tried to run an Audit on the file but get the same message. Any ideas?

Was the student using a student version of Revit, or a newer version?

Thank you for your response. I am still trying to track down whether or not our library is using the same Version 9 of REVIT that we are on here in our labs. We are on a network license here and I have had licensing issues previously and wonder whether or not that has anything to do with it. Our license here is an educational license but I don't think that is the same as a student license. If he had opened this file on a student version even once, would that negate the ability to open it on the network version?

I don't know if it would or not, I have not done anything with the student version. I don't think it's supposed to do anything except put a "Student version" border on everything you print.

You don't want to save or mix anything from a student version.  The Student Version border is like a virus and will contaminate your files.

DON'T LET ANYONE SAVE A STUDENT VERSION FAMILY OR PROJECT ANYWHERE WHERE IT CAN CONTAMINATE YOUR LEGITIMATE FILES.
