Sorry about the duplicate post. I didn't realize I was in General Discussion when I posted this question earlier. I need to create many custom countertops in the project. The other designers working on the project have already created the countertops as mass objects so that they would match the wall radius and corner conditions. Now, we would like to schedule these "countertops" along with the other casework and furniture. Is there a way to do this without having to recreate each countertop as part of a new family? Respectfully submitted,

For this type of situtation where you have lots of custom shaped counters i typically create them as a special floor type. Then to schedule them i simply filter by type to own show my countertop surfaces... This would be the easiest way of getting what you require. If you've already created them as mass families??? you could use the floor by face tool to pick faces... Alternatively you could also schedule the mass families providing that they are only used for countertops. otherwise if there are only 5 or less different shapes of varying sizes then i'd create a casework family and schedule them that way... HTH.

Thank you for your solution. I was able to create the floor type "countertop" but when I set-up the fields for my schedule I was unable to select "Room Number" and "Room Name" the same way I had for the other pieces of casework. Any suggestions here. A preferred solution to this would be to create a radiused countertop family. Unfortunately it seems more difficult than it sounds since the conditions for each countertop could be different. The front edge of the countertop would be flat (perpendicular to the floor) and the back would need to be radiused, or flat to match the wall conditions behind the casework. Also, the left and right edges would need also need to match the wall conditions; squared off, acute or obtuse angle depending on which corner of the room the casework is placed. If you are on an outside wall, for example, the exterior curtain wall is radiused and the wall it intersects is also on a radius, creating the obtuse angle. I have tried modifying the recent family upload "countertop - straight w/adj splashes" and was able to modify it to some degree to suit our needs but don't know how to make the back edge radiused and flexible enough to be modified on a case by case basis in the model. Yes i thought you may want to do this which is why i also suggested the second option of parametric families. It's certainly possible to create a 3-4 families that would cover all the conditions you discuss, however it would require a good knowlege of family creation. You could do it all in one but i'd advise against for simplicity and time. Best way to tackle would be to begin by sketching out the various conditions you have in plan and how each needs to vary in order to handle multiple conditions. Adjustable curves are relatively simple, but most likely it you want to have the centre point of the arc adjustable you may need to involve a little maths. How many of the complicated curved conditions are there? If the bulk are relatively simple you could just use external casework families for those, then use in-place casework families for the more custom ones... HTH.
