I have noticed that while using the linework tool, some elements allow modification of the linework (provide the blue dots) and some do not. Generally the ones that don't are non-system families, but this doe not seem to be a clear distinction.  So here goes;

Should I simply be resolved to the notion that a wall sweep (cornice) can can be fully modified in elevation, but when I see it from the side (even when the sweep is not cut) the linework tool becomes the clumsy all or nothing tool of years past?

Could it be the view type that somehow limits the potency of the Linework tool?  I have a particular section detail where it refuses me blue dots on everything I have tried so far.  (Cut items, parts of a group, wall in elevation, door frames.)  I was able to modify the groups and walls in other views in this model.

Any thoughts on why I might be denied my pleasure?

From the HELP

You can change the line style of only a part of a projection edge. When you are changing the line style for a single edge (see Using the Linework Tool), blue controls display at each end of the edge. You can drag these controls so that the new style is applied only to a segment of the edge.

So... blue dots only on projection edge lines - no others.

Well today is a new day, and it seems my Revit is friendly with me agian.

I am now afforded blue dots on everything previously listed except the cut items. and an edge of a rounded profile (handrail).  But I have noticed previously that lines representing a rounded edge don't allow the full use of the linework tool.

Thanks RevitCity for letting me vent. I'll chalk it up as one of those Big File Glitches that get's worse as the day progresses and more users open local files.
