I was using massing to do a little context modeling, and after making windows for all the buildings Revit "encountered an error". It closed, but was nice enough to ask me if I would like to save a recovery file. "Yes! Please save a recovery file!" I cried with joy...
But when I opened the recovery file, none of the windows showed up in the model. WHY would it do that?!! Anyone have any ideas? Thnx for your time.

If it crashed whilst you were editing a mass, the changes to the mass wouldn't be saved unless you'd finished the sketch...
As for none of the windows showing up sounds like the recovery file became corrupt. You may be able to recover the information from a journal file (send to support) or if you didn't lose more than a few hours work in that session it would probably be quicker to just redo the work on a backup file...
