I have some steeply sloping W18x35's at the roof and I need the ends to be vertical.  How do I do it?

Make it using Solid Blend, use the same profile at the top and base, and it'll angle how you offset your profiles and give you a vertical profile finish

Hmmm.  After messing with the Solid Blend for fifteen minutes I am confused.  Why is it such a pain to trim a beam at an angle?

UPDATE: I did it using a Void Blend.  I just voided out the triangle I didn't want.  I hope this works for the Architect's model!

I think I would have gone with the "Opening By Face" command instead...a lot less complicated and requires less RAM allocation.

See attached image.

Why don't you just use the "Cut" tool with a "Ref. Plane"?

That is an excellent recommendation Ty!

The only reason I do not use that method is to avoid having any more workplanes in my model, named or otherwise...

One large benefit to Ty's suggestion is that if the slope of the beam changes, the cut stays vertical
