I've been looking and looking for a simple earth hatch pattern. The one on here is at a 45 degree angle. Also, how does one import hatch patterns from CAD? Thanks!

First you should learn to use your HELP - it will be one of your best tools. If you do a simple search in your Help, you will find: Fill Patterns In that topic, you will also find topics on the difference between model and drafting patters, how to create, load and edit fill patterns. Hatch (fill) patterns are txt files with the file extension ".pat".

Image below shows how to make a new one, just click on new when you into your reigon properties. I made an annotation reigon and editing the properties in there as shown. If you press custom you can import a .pat fileso if you can get CAD to save in .pat you can import a hatch from there

Thanks, guys. However, I'm still stuck. I read through the instructions from HELP, but it doesn't quite answer what I need, although very informative. I have configured a pattern, but it's in txt. format. I'm trying to figure out how to convert it to .pat format. And yes, I've looked through the forum. I even downloaded hatchkit and I'm facing difficulty using that program, although it creates the .pat files.

Specify "All Files" in the "Save As Type" field (that's the field below where you specify the filename) to avoid MS Notepad adding .TXT to the saved filename. If you specify the filename to be XYZ.PAT without selecting "All Files", Notepad will save the file you just named as XYZ.PAT with a ".txt" filename extension so you wind up saving the file as as XYZ.PAT.txt - it's right up there as Notepad's most irritating quirk. If you are facing any difficulty using HatchKit send an email to hatchkit@cadro.com.au for assistance. best regards Hugh Adamson www.hatchkit.com.au

HUGH!!!! you made my day!!! i was getting so frustrated that i couldn't get a pat file when i did a 'save as" in notepad, although i edited in a pat file. Another roundabout way I did this was that I copied the pat file in a different folder. Deleted the information in there and pasted in my new information. I saved it, without doing a "Save As." Then after closing the folder, I renamed it. But this is so much easier!!

As for hatchkit, it's more that I have to sit down and "learn" the program. I know there can't be that much to it, but it's another program, I gotta sit down and figure out. Thanks, again!

No worries. Happy to help. Notepad has one hidden talent which almost makes up for its shortcomings. If you save a file containing .LOG (note the period and uppercase) alone as the first line in the file then subsequent opening of the file will append a datestamp at the end of the file and position the cursor below it, e.g: .LOG 2:41 PM 18/02/2010blahblah 2:42 PM 18/02/2010rhubarb <cursor> Must be the world's smallest profession time recorder ...
