First of all, Hi everyone! I'm Juan. I have been a lurker around this site which has been a god send for my high school's architecture class. Now that I have properly introduced myself, I need some help with a competition that I am competing in here in Atlanta. Specifically it is the AIA High School Design Competition. It focuses on making a new extension to the Martin Luther King Center that will influence the redevelopment of the Sweet Auburn District otherwise known as Dr. King's home neighborhood and it's surroundings. The proposed building, as described in the program description, sounds like a multipurpose building with a cafe and lending library in it so that's what I'm going for. What suggestions would you guys have for the cafe to relate to Dr. King's influence on the world? What could I include so that when someone enters the cafe, they can feel the power that Dr. King had and the message he gave? Keep in mind that it will be built right across the street from the old Ebenezer Baptist Church. What kind of outdoor space could be used? Any answers to any of the questions above would be very well recieved. Thanks
