Does anyone have any suggestions for using Revit to model and experiment with different forms for tension membrane fabric structures? books? online articles? etc.

You can quickly generate a tension roof in Revit, after finishing your roof sketch just select it and choose "Modify Sub Elements" just like you do with the floor. you can then specify RL to these points. I have attached an image, is this what you are after?

That's the general idea! You said 'choose "Modify Sub Elements" just like you do with the floor. you can then specify RL to these points.' I don't understand what you mean. I'm using Revit 09, are these new options in 2010 or am I missing something (likely)?

I figured out what I was missing....but I'm still wondering, how did you make the roof curve instead of looking like a piece of folded paper?

I can make the saddle shape so that it looks how I want it to. How do I make more complex geometry smooth? See the attached file. I need a smooth, curved fabric roof, not something that looks like folded hard surfaces. I am using Revit 2010. Thanks

I have tried to use the modify subelements but it looks as though they create a flat plane and has what apperes to hbe split lines. Even if i attempt to use a floor i get the same results.

No problem with "Modify sub Elements" in Roofs or Slabs, if you want you can use the "Conceptual Mass" to create complex forms....

@Typhoon,
I'm quite new to Revit but that looks fantastic. Can you elaborate at all how you have gone about defining Ellipse2.rfa model?
Cheers
